There are many articles online with information about non-doTERRA oils being unsafe for children. Correct - non doTERRA oils can be unsafe because they are adulterated or have different properties. doTERRA oils are perfectly sourced and distilled to ensure the highest quality and safety.

What about different species of Eucalyptus? Why is some ingestible and some not ingestible? doTERRA Eucalyptus single oil is Eucalyptus Radiata. BUT the Eucalyptus that is in OnGuard and Breathe Drops is Eucalyptus Globus, it is a different species. The Globus variety is GRAS by the FDA. (Ingestible - the eucalyptus in On Guard is ingestible.) doTERRA is different. It's just better.

CARAGEENAN
**It has come to our attention that there are concerns with the ingredient “carrageenan” that is used in our vegetarian softgels. At doTERRA, your health is very important to us and we would never use an ingredient that wasn’t thoroughly researched and known to be safe. That being said, doTERRA is continuing to phase out this ingredient as the technology allows in order to serve the concerns of the customers.

Carrageenan is a natural fiber extracted from seaweed and is used as a thickening agent in our vegetarian softgels. Seaweed and seaweed fiber are used safely and extensively throughout the world and have well-established safety records supported by numerous clinical studies.

Carrageenan is GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) and is approved for use by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the U.S., by the European Parliament and Council, by the Joint World Health Organization, and by the Food and Agriculture Organization Expert Committee on Food Additives.

doTERRA only uses long chain carrageenan molecules—which have been shown to be safe—in our products. Carrageenan is simply a type of fiber that is not digested or absorbed by the intestinal tract. It is therefore unable to enter the blood stream by ingestion.

We thank you for your concerns and hope you will use our softgel products with confidence, knowing that they are safe for your body. For additional questions regarding carrageenan, please contact productsupport@doterra.com

EXPIRATION: Do essential oils expire? There are expiration dates on the bottom of your bottles as required by the FDA because they are consumable products. Oils lose efficacy over time but to make them last longer –

1. Keep them out of heat

2. Keep them out of direct sunlight

3. Keep the lids on - oxygen makes them evaporate

You will read all kinds of conflicting information online. Follow the tips above, use your oils regularly, use common sense and you'll be fine.
